The Full Council meets on the second Wednesday of each month and this is followed by a Planning meeting. The Finance Committee meeting is held on the fourth Wednesday of each month, with a Planning meeting before. The meetings dates for the municipal year 2017/18 are shown below:-

All meetings of Nelson Town Council are open to the public. A period of 15 minutes is allowed at the start of each meeting for public participation. Members of the public may remain in attendance during the rest of the meeting, (except for confidential items) but they may not take part in any subsequent discussions. If a member of the public wishes to address a meeting it is always useful for the council to know in advance, although there is no obligation to do so.
