'Punish a Muslim' - A Statement

Published: 16 March 2018

Statement on “Punish a Muslim” hate mail.

By Councillor Zafar Ali, Chairman-Nelson Town Council

People across the U.K. have been receiving distressing hate mail, propagating crime and violence against Muslims.

Whilst Nelson residents have been asking questions about safety for children and members of the public, the police throughout the country are investigating this disturbing correspondence. A request is made for members of all communities to remain vigilant.

I also urge all Nelson and Pendle residents to stand together in condemning such acts of hate. This provocative correspondence is designed to cause nothing but disharmony and fear in all communities. If anybody receives the hate mail please contact the Police on 101.

These incidents are rare and Nelson residents, young and old, although worried, should be rest assured that the Police are taking the matter seriously with investigations taking place across different regions.

If you require any assistance or further information on any aspect of this statement please contact the Town Council on 07735 350735 or email info@nelsontowncouncil.gov.uk
