Chairman visits community champions as part of Christmas celebrations. Town Council making excellent progress leading up to 10th Anniversary.

This year, Councillor Zafar Ali (The Town Council’s Chairman) has been dropping off Christmas Treat boxes at Pendleside Hospice, Hulton Care Home, Ashiana Lodge and Bannister Court residential homes- as a token of appreciation for all the hard work of teams at local care facilities.

So far in 2017, the Town Council has played a part in the judging of the Lancashire Tourism Awards, recruited a catering co-ordinator and apprentice for our expanding town council, upgraded the town’s Christmas lights and had an increase in the number of town centre events (introducing a Halloween fun day and 3 Christmas Fairs).

The Town Council is financially responsible for Nelson’s play areas, town centre events, CCTV, Christmas lights and allotments. The Town Council also owns the Unity Wellbeing Centre and contributes towards the maintenance of Nelson’s parks.

“Formed in 2008, Nelson Town Council will soon be celebrating its 10th anniversary. We have been busy making positive changes to our town and we will soon be asking residents for ideas to mark our 10th anniversary. We look forward to doing more for Nelson in the new year” – Councillor Zafar Ali, Chairman- Nelson Town Council
