Annual Food Festival

Published: 19 September 2017

Nelson’s Annual Food Festival was a tremendous success with celebrity Chef Richard Fox providing live cooking demonstrations, free vintage bus trips, celebrity world-class freestyle footballer John Farnworth, Bhangra Dancing from the Punjabi Roots Academy and Brazilian dancers and drummers from the Sambafriq Band. There were competitions and over 30 stalls offering food from around the world.

“The event was a magnificent success and Nelson residents were once again spoilt for choice. There was soo much on offer from foods from different continents and show stopping performances. There’s been months of preparation by Scott Dawson Advertising and so I’d like to give special thanks to Zahida Shamim and her team on behalf of the Town Council.” – Nelson Town Council Chairman, Councillor Zafar Ali.

“I was lucky enough to be asked to do a cry as a Town Crier at the food fair today and I was pleased to do so. The event was well organised and my wife and I were well looked after by councillors, council staff and Scott Dawson employees. It is the second time I have cried in Nelson and both times the events have been most enjoyable.

Whilst talking to a council employee, I was told that Nelson may well have found a replacement crier for poor Tony Becket. If the new incumbent wants any help with procedures etc, please do ask her to contact me.” Rawden Kerr – Great Harwood Town Crier.
