PRIDE OF NELSON AWARDS 2021
Nelson Town Council are pleased to launch the Pride of Nelson Awards which will recognise service to the community in what has been the most challenging of times. We want to celebrate individuals, groups and organisations that have managed to achieve great things and have given back to their community.
Nominate your local heroes by completing the nomination form and tell us why they deserve to be the Pride of Nelson.
Nomination forms must be submitted by 30th September 2021 and can be competed online here or a copy can be printed out and sent or handed in to Nelson Town Council, Nelson Town Hall, Market Street, Nelson, BB9 7LG
The awards categories are as follows:
Education Award
This award is to recognise an individual, an organisation, a school or college, a class or group that has gone above and beyond to ensure that families have had the support and access to learning through these difficult times.
Enterprise Award
During unprecedented times in the UK and across the world, this award recognises a Nelson business (individual or company) which has demonstrated dedication and innovation in the way it has adapted to ensure the survival of their business.
Arts Achievement
This award recognises an individual or organisation that has demonstrated a commitment and achievement in any art form. This could be individual or group attainment or by inspiring and teaching others to engage in the arts.
Sports Achievement
This award recognises an individual or organisation that has demonstrated a commitment and achievement in any sport. This could be individual or team attainment or by inspiring and teaching others to engage in the sports.
Health and Wellbeing
This award recognises a community group or individual who has strived to improve the physical and/or mental health and wellbeing of local residents.
Community Contribution
This award recognises the dedication and unwavering commitment to bring the community together through unprecedented times acknowledging the continued service and hard work that touched the lives of many individuals and families.
Community Group
This prestigious award acknowledges a community group which has continued to serve local residents through challenging times, providing key services and support to people throughout the pandemic.
Youth Leadership
This award recognises a young person or group of young people that have shown real leadership in the community during challenging times.
Volunteer Award
This award is for an individual that has shown dedication by volunteering to improve people’s lives and provide support, activities or services that have made a difference throughout the pandemic.
Lifetime Achievement Award
This award recognises an exceptional individual who has made a career-long contribution to Nelson in the form of community life, leadership, business, innovation or any other exemplary attribute which has resulted in a legacy of improving lives for individuals, communities, and the wider population. Nominees for this award will be noteworthy individuals who have earned recognition from, and the respect of, their peers and will be acknowledged as having reached the pinnacle of their involvement in their respective field.
All those shortlisted shall be invited to an awards ceremony which is to take place at Fence Gate Inn on 11th November 2021.
