Festive fun awaits at Nelson Christmas Lights Switch On this Saturday

Published: 17 November 2025

Free to attend, the event will take place this Saturday, from 12pm to 5:30pm, offering an afternoon packed with festive entertainment for all ages.

Sponsored by Nelson Town Council, this year’s celebrations promise something for everyone. The main stage will come alive at 12pm with Christmas singing led by compère Gavin Young. The festivities continue with a Frozen sing-a-long at 12:30pm, followed by a performance from East Lancashire star Caitlyn Holt at 1pm. Frozen fans will be delighted to see the characters return to the stage at 1:30pm, with a special free meet-and-greet opportunity to follow.

Dance enthusiasts will enjoy performances from the Helen Green Academy of Dance at 2pm, followed by the rhythmic Harringtons Learning Centre Dhol Drummers at 2:30pm. Christmas dancers Desi Nach take to the stage at 3pm, before the dynamic rock, R&B, and rap sister duo Kulturess perform at 3:30pm.

Winners of the ‘decorate the bauble’ school competition will be invited on stage at 3:55pm to receive their prizes, followed by a performance from one of the UK’s leading Taylor Swift tribute acts.

The excitement will build to the event’s headline act, K-Dot, one of the leading figures in the UK’s northern rap and bassline scenes. With over six million Spotify streams, performances at major festivals including Tramlines, and a shared stage with Ed Sheeran, K-Dot is sure to deliver a show-stopping finale before the Christmas Lights Switch On.

Beyond the main stage, families can enjoy a free Santa’s Grotto and free selection box giveaway, available on a first-come, first-served basis, with selection boxes kindly sponsored by BRSK. Market Street will be home to a free funfair, while visitors can also enjoy street food and craft stalls, as well as performances from Barnoldswick Brass Band at 1pm and 2pm.

The afternoon will conclude with a spectacular fireworks display, marking the official switch-on of Nelson’s Christmas lights from 5:25pm.

Cllr Faraz Ahmad, Chair of Nelson Town Council, said: “Everyone is so excited for the Nelson Christmas Lights Switch On this year. There is so much going on for all the family, and it really is an event not to be missed. We can’t wait to welcome the community into the town centre for a magical day of festive fun.”
